Re: Authority to Return Gifts
Section 101.1(u)* of the Standing Orders, as revised by The Regents on April 18, 1969, provides as follows:
"The President is authorized, after consultation with the General Counsel, to return to the donor all or any unused portion of a gift of personal property, when the purposes of the gift have been fulfilled or have become impossible or impracticable and when alternative uses are precluded."
This authority is hereby delegated to you for gifts over which you have administrative control. This memorandum supersedes the President's memorandum of April 25, 1967 to Chancellors, Vice Presidents and University Deans on this subject.
