I enclose for your use a copy of the guidelines for implementing SB 1729, the "Kristin Smart Campus Safety Act of 1998." On December 2, 1998, President Atkinson delegated to you the authority to enter into agreements as required by this legislation. The attached implementation guidelines, which have been reviewed by Campus Police Chiefs, require that agreements be entered into by July 1, 1999. Copies of such agreements should be sent to Office of the President by September 1, 1999.
